Smart Taxes is a policy research project led by Feasta funded by the Irish Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government through the Irish Enrvironmental Network (IEN).

Its purpose is to develop fiscal and other financial and monetary mechanisms in Ireland to deliver environmental, social and economic sustainability.

Feasta, Foundation for the Economics of Sustainability, aims to identify the characteristics (economic, cultural and environmental) of a truly sustainable society, articulate how the necessary transition can be effected and promote the implementation of the measures required for this purpose.

The Environmental Pillar participates in Social Partnership in Ireland. Its aim is to preserve the overall productivity, health and long term sustainability of the ecosystems and environmental services that underpin and supply many of the most basic components of human welfare such as healthy soils, clean water and clean air. 

National Rural Network click here

The purpose of the National Rural Network is to assist in the efficient and effective implementation of the Rural Development Programme. It will operate across all axes and will seek to promote synergies across measures, encouraging individuals and organisations to work together and expand the possibilities available to farmers and rural development practitioners.

Building Regulation Advisory Body (BRAB) click here

The Building Regulations Advisory Body (BRAB) is a statutory body appointed by the Minister, under Section 14 of the Building Control Act, 1990 to advise him on matters relating to the Building Regulations. Membership of the body includes representatives from the construction industry and regulators at national and local level. BRAB was originally established in 1992. The current BRAB was appointed for a five-year term by Ministerial Order dated 14 June 2007.

This remit of this specialised Task Force is to consider and advise on sustainability design and sustainable development for the 21st century. The STF is developing a coherent strategy on sustainable development to combine the provision of new, energy efficient buildings and prolong the useful life of existing structures. The Task Force encourage Members efforts to produce a culturally driven, competitive and sustainable, high-quality built environment.

The aim of the Irish Bioenergy Association is to promote biomass as an environmentally, economically and socially sustainable indigenous energy resource, and also to promote its non-energy related benefits.
